There was no doubt, at any point, that Berbatov was a great player. Yet his performances since his move to Manchester United have in general been very poor. Things seem to have changed this year. The arrival of J. Hernandez from Mexico, Macheda from the youths and M. Owen returning to fitness, have increased the competition for that one place alongside Rooney. In the first few weeks of the season, Berbatov has not only scored wonder goals (video) but also been central in the Red Devils' play, showing increased mobility which reminded me of his Tottenham years. If he can keep up this kind of form expect to witness a super season from the flamboyant Bulgarian.
